My cousin climbed the Nordkante last summer, and rappelled down the route... He said it was the hardest thing he ever did (the rappeling- and he climbs 5.11-5.12). Good decision to descend on the southern side. Cheers!!!

Yah. We had a bellweather day. Cold, hard, and clear. My mates did the Cassin the next day and said the abs were a pain. But they did approach+cassin+abs+descent to car+drive back to camp in under 20 hours. STRONG work. If I were to hit it again I would wait for good weather, then start at noon, let the crowds get high above me, the blaze up the route in warm weather and descend in the gloom.
